A Vision For the Future
The City Development Board sees Galway in the year 2012 as:
“Gaillimh! Beo agus Bríomhar! A city that people are proud to be part of, to work in, to live in and which is attractive to visitors and investors alike”
This vision will be realised by recognising the value of Galway as:
- An Historic, Progressive, Creative City
- An Inclusive and People Centred City
- A City with a Sustainable Economy, Community and Environment
- An Accessible, Equitable City

Achieving Our Vision
This section forms the nucleus of the Strategy outlining the goals, objectives,strategic actions, timeframes and co-ordinating bodies,critical to the attainment of the Board’s overall vision for Galway City.
The expected outcomes arising from the implementation of each objective, along with indicators for measuring progress are also set out in a clear, easy to read format. This section concludes with the strategic actions designed to further promote regional harmony. It is important to note that the accompanying appendices present details of the indicative membership and remit of each group, forum or network, whose job it is to implement each action.
