IBAL Litter League

Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) was set up in 1996 as an alliance of companies who believe that litter has a significant impact on our economic well-being. The main sources of our prosperity – tourism, foreign direct investment and our food industries - all depend on an image of Ireland as a clean and green island.

A major IBAL initiative has been the Anti Litter League. Ranking the performance of each local authority in combating litter in a league table format, has delivered tangible results. Now co-funded by the Dept of the Environment, the league covers over 50 towns and city areas.

In the most recent IBAL Litter League survey, Galway City ranked 42nd and was deemed to be ‘moderately littered’.
