Galway's Big Bay Clean Up
Sunday May 16th 2010
Galway City Council, in conjunction with the Galway Atlantaquaria, are organising the biggest ever coastal clean-up in Ireland next Sunday, 16th May 2010.
Litter clean-ups will be conducted at beaches and coastal areas throughout Galway city - Rinville; Ballyloughane; Lough Atalia; Claddagh; Grattan, Salthill and Silverstrand. Clean-ups will commence at 12 and will take approximately 1 - 1.5 hours.
In addition to collecting the litter, we will keep a record of all items collected during the clean-ups. This information will be used in future campaigns to stop the littering of our coastline.

Amenity grant applications for 2010 are now being accepted

The objective of the Amenity Grants Scheme is to provide assistance to community and residents associations who wish to contribute towards the betterment of their local environment by undertaking improvement works in their local area, including litter clean-ups and anti-litter measures.
Application forms are available from the reception desk at City Hall, College Road, Galway, on the environment page of the website www.galwaycity.ie, by calling (091) 536400 or by e-mailing environment@galwaycity.ie.
Completed applications should be submitted to the Environment Department, Galway City Council, City Hall, College Road, Galway not later than 4.00 pm Friday 30th April 2010. E-mail applications to environment@galwaycity.ie.will be accepted.
Green School Dates

The deadline dates for green school assessment forms are as follows:
New application deadline - 1st March 2010
Renewal application deadline - assessment must be completed by 30th April 2010.
