Mortgage Allowance Scheme
The Mortgage Allowance Scheme is a scheme to assist qualified persons to purchase or build their own home.
To Qualify:
You may qualify:
- If you are a Tenant or Tenant Purchaser of a local authority house and you are returning your existing house to the local authority.
- If you are a tenants of voluntary housing associations
The purchase of the house must be financed by means of a mortgage loan of at least €38,092.
The Mortgage Allowance is an allowance of up to €11,450 paid on a reducing basis over 5 years and is designed to ease the transition from rent to mortgage.
The allowance is paid directly to the mortgage lender so that the beneficiaries mortgage repayments are reduced by the amount of the subsidy.
