What Happens After the Interview
The interview board make a recommendation to the City Manager setting out the successful candidate for the position based on the performance at interview. The interview board may and may not create a panel depending on the number of people they determine to be qualified for the role.
If a panel is formed, this will be used for the filling of suitable vacancies in the City Council during the life of the panel, which is usually for one year from the date of interview.
The Human Resources Department will make contact with candidates in writing as soon as possible after the interview informing them of their result. It is not the policy of Galway City Council to issue results over the phone unless the person is known to the Council in order to protect individual’s confidentiality.
Formal offers of employment are dependent on the receipt of satisfactory references and medical. Once an offer of employment is made the successful candidate is expected to be in place no later than one month from the offer.
