Complaints, Enquiries and Appeals

Parking Regulations are intended to help all road users by eliminating obstructions and reducing congestion, improving road safety and increasing the turnover of on-street parking spaces, and making the streets more accessible for all.

Remember, it is the motorists responsibility to comply with both Galway City Council Parking Control Bye Laws and National Parking Regulations governing illegal parking on double yellow lines, single yellow lines, disabled parking bays, obstruction of junctions, footpaths etc.

Appealing a Parking Fine or the Towing or Clamping of your vehicle.

If you receive a Fixed Charge Penalty Notice and you consider this action unjustified, you are entitled to lodge a written appeal.

Appeals should be sent to:

An appeal should be written clearly and legibly and include the following:

Only an appeal received by Galway City Council within 28 days of the issued date of the Fixed Charge Penalty Notice will be accepted. Please note that if your appeal is unsuccessful, you will be liable for any increase in the penalty irrespective of any delay occurring during the processing of this appeal and you will be open to prosecution.
