Cyclists
A number of cycle lanes and cycle parking facilities have been introduced by the council in order to try and increase the number of cyclists in the city.
The council is committed to adopting proven methods to make cycling safer and more convenient in the City.
The council recognises the difficulties posed by roundabouts for cyclists and pedestrians and is committed to addressing this issue.
Cycle lanes available in Galway City include:
- Quincentennial Bridge
- Western Distributors Road
Proposed Cycle Lanes (as per Development Plan 2005 - 2011):
- Railway Station and Renmore (along Iarnrod Eireann lands )
- Renmore/Ballyloughaun to Roscam Park and Curragrean
- N.U.I.G to Dominick Street
- Terryland River Valley (Headford Road to Castlegar)
- Dyke Road
- Castlegar Road
- Doughiska Road
Cycle parking facilities available in Galway City include:
- Eyre Square
- Main Guard Street
