Town Twinnings
The Corporate Services Department of the City Council co-ordinates and oversees the twinning arrangements that exist between Galway and 8 other cities and the friendship agreements that exist with 3 other cities.
This twinning involves cultural, educational and exchange of common interests between both communities. To date there have been exchanges in the sporting, cultural and educational spheres. These exchanges have led to close contact between the citizens of Galway City and our Twin Cities.
The benefits of Town Twinning to Galway City include:
- Opportunity for an interchange of ideas
- Breaking down of barriers of fear and misunderstanding
- Help to foster a better appreciation of out respective cultures.
