Major Water Conservation Project for City Starts

27 September 2011

Galway City Council is pleased to announce that the essential upgrading of the water supply network as part of the Water Conservation Project has commenced.

The project, which will last for 12 months, involves the installation of new infrastructure on the existing water network. These works will require a number of water outages throughout the entire city during the course of the project.

Every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum and advance warning of these planned water outages will be given to local businesses and residents through leaflet drops as well as being advertised on local radio and via the Galway City Council website.

More detailed information regarding the location of the works as well as dates and times of the water supply interruptions can be obtained from our website www.galwaycity.ie.

This project will provide an upgraded and improved water management system that will enable Galway City Council to effectively monitor water usage throughout the distribution network, improve reaction time to extreme weather events and other supply interruptions and reduce water losses through improved leak detection and repair techniques.

General enquiries can be made to Galway City Council on (091) 536400 or email waterconservation@galwaycity.ie.

Galway City Council wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused and thanks you for your patience as we work to improve the water services for the city.
