Galway City Council and Galway County Council appoint consultants to produce a Walking and Cycling Strategy for Galway City and it’s Environs
27 October 2009The objective of this work is to provide a clear plan for the future development of cycling and pedestrian networks in the area including safe, attractive infrastructure which will encourage greater use of sustainable travel modes for trips to work, school, the shops and for recreation.
To identify the existing barriers to walking and cycling in Galway, a consultation event will be held at Eyre Square Shopping Centre on Saturday November 7th from 10am to 4pm.
In addition, an online survey is available for those who wish to get involved.
Online Galway City and Environs Walking and Cycling Strategy Survey
Three prizes, sponsored by Nigel’s Bike Shop, will be on offer for those completing the survey, including a bike, a gift voucher and a cycling helmet.
Written submissions to the Walking and Cycling Strategy for Galway City and Its Environs can be sent to Galway Transportation Unit, Galway City Council, City Hall, College Road, Galway or alternatively submissions can be emailed to gtu@galwaycity.ie by November 20th at 1.00pm.
