Galway City Council Advises Caution With Stormy Weather on the Way
With high winds and heavy rain expected overnight and all through Thursday, Galway City Council is advising caution to pedestrians, motorists and all who might be out and about around the city over the next 24 to 36 hours
There is the potential for some localised flooding and heavy on-shore spray in the Salthill area along the Promenade caused by high winds. This is particularly possible at high tide at around 5.00am and at 5.30pm on Thursday.
Caution is advised for walkers on exposed shores and beside waterways in the city with gusting winds in excess of 120km per hour expected.
Caution is also advised regarding parking in the main carpark in Salthill and at Toft Park on the Prom.
Galway City Council crews are on standby should conditions deteriorate further.
