Is your garden the best in Galway City?

May 15, 2014

Entries are now being accepted for the Galway City Tidy Towns and Garden Competition 2014. Competition categories include best front garden, best residential estate, best shopfront, best community project and best school. Entrants must be based in Galway City. The garden competition, now in it's 53rd year, aims to encourage and promote householders and businesses to take a greater pride and interest in their own gardens and in their local area.

Speaking about the competition, Sharon Carroll, Environment Education Officer, Galway City Council said:

"Through the Tidy Towns and Garden Competition, the efforts of individuals, residents' associations and businesses in maintaining and enhancing their local area can be rewarded. There are lots of different categories, catering for all types of garden, so I would encourage everyone with an interest in gardening to enter'.

She added:

"This year, we have included a new environmental category to the competition as we would like to acknowledge those that implement good environmental practice in the maintenance of their gardens."

Entry forms are available from the Environment Department, Galway City Council or can be downloaded below. The closing date for entries is Friday 13 June 2014.
