October is National Re-Use Month

What is National Re-Use Month?

National Reuse Month is a new waste prevention initiative to raise awareness about the economic and environmental benefits of reusing everyday items and materials that would otherwise go to waste.

Why should I consider re-use ?

Reuse reduces the volume of waste being discarded while also conserving natural resources, energy and water. Reuse also offers significant economic benefits by creating jobs and boosting local economies.

Donating, refurbishing and repairing items are all forms of reuse and offer people a chance to save or make money, get creative, learn a new skill and do their bit for the environment.

Reuse Month will be a time for us to celebrate the fantastic work being carried out by organisations and groups all over the country who have already adopted and promote reuse.

What can I do to reduce the volume of waste being discarded?

Firstly consider if the item has another use. Many items found around the home can be used for different purposes. So before you throw those items away, think about how they can be reused.
