PUBLIC NOTICE Planning & Development Act 2000 (as amended) Notice of Proposed Variations of the Galway City Development Plan 2017 - 2023

Notice is hereby given pursuant to Section 13 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended) that Galway City Council, being the Planning Authority for the City, propose to make variations of the Galway City Development Plan 2017 – 2023 in respect of the following:

Proposed Variation No. 1 - Amend Specific Objective relating to the reserved route corridor for the N6 Galway City Ring Road (N6 GCRR) on the Land Use Zoning and Specific Objectives Map in the Ballybrit/Briarhill/Coolagh area and the N17 Tuam Road/Parkmore area of the city.

It is proposed to make minor modifications to the mapped route corridor reservation for the N6 GCRR project. This has been brought about as part of the further assessment of the design process of the N6 GCRR.

Proposed Variation No. 2 Change of land use zoning from Institutional and Community CF (0.067hectares/0.165acres) and Recreation and Amenity RA (0.012hectares/0.029acres) to Residential R (0.079hectares/0.194acres) at the Presbytery, 24 Presentation Road.

It is proposed to rezone lands located at the Presbytery, 24 Presentation Road from CF - To provide for and facilitate the sustainable development of community, cultural and institutional uses and development of infrastructure for the benefit of the citizens of the city and RA – To provide for and protect recreational uses, open space, amenity uses and natural heritage to R- To provide for residential development and for associated support development, which will ensure the protection of existing residential amenity and will contribute to sustainable residential neighbourhoods.

It is necessary to vary the Development Plan to facilitate these changes.

In accordance with the Planning and Development (Strategic Environmental Assessment) Regulations 2004 (as amended) and Article 6(3) of the Habitats Directive and Part XAB of the Planning and Development Act 2000 as amended, a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Environmental Report and a Natura Impact Report has been prepared in respect of Proposed Variation 1. It has been determined following screening for SEA and Appropriate Assessment (AA) that an SEA and AA is not required for Proposed Variation No. 2.

A copy of the Proposed Variations, SEA Environmental Report, Natura Impact Report, screening reports and determinations are available for inspection at the Planning Department, Galway City Council, College Road, Galway during normal office hours (9:00am – 4:00pm, Monday – Friday) from Thursday 1st June 2017 to Friday 30th June 2017 and on the website at www.galwaycity.ie.

Submissions or observations in relation to the Proposed Variations and associated environmental assessments may be made in writing within the above specified time period and should be addressed to the Senior Planner, Planning Department, City Hall, College Road, Galway or by e-mail to devplan@galwaycity.ie. These will be taken into consideration by the City Council before any decision is made with regard to the Proposed Variations.

For convenience, the Proposed Variations to the Galway City Development Plan 2017-2023 and associated environmental assessments will also be available for inspection at the following locations during the above specified time period.
