What is RSS?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and it is a convenient way of monitoring and collecting updates and content from various websites in one place.
Instead of having to visit each site to check for new information, the RSS Feed can provide up to date headlines and information from sites to which you have subscribed.

What do I need?
To get started, the first thing you need is a piece of software known as a News Reader.
News Readers come in various forms, and can be either downloaded and run from your PC, or can be utilised online through a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Opera. (A selection of tools is listed here)
Online RSS readers have the benefit of being accessible from any computer, whereas downloaded applications load feeds onto the computer on which they are installed.

How do I subscribe?
Whatever your News Reader preference, feeds can be added in a number of ways. RSS links will usually be marked with a distinctive orange button
To add a feed, simply drag the URL (web address) into your News Reader, or copy and paste the URL into your News Reader as a new feed.
Some browsers such as Mozilla Firefox 2.0 +, Internet Explorer 7 +, Opera and Safari greatly simplify the addition of RSS feeds by automatically checking for feeds on a site. The browser will then give the option to subscribe if a feed is detected.
