Architect in Residence

Each year Galway City Council and Galway County Council in association with the Arts Council invite applications for the post of Architect in Residence to work with secondary schools in Galway City and County.

The duration of this residency is usually for a period of one-year commencing in September.

The aim of the residency is to explore the artform of Architecture with an emphasis on awareness and perception of the built environment.

The project aims to develop knowledge, appreciation and awareness of architecture as an artform among secondary schoolchildren in the City and County, while engaging creatively in the process, drawing on the architectural heritage of Galway City and County.

The precise scope of the work of the Resident will be determined by the Residents specific interests and expertise. Galway City Council and Galway County Council are committed to supporting the Architect in Residence to create their own work and are keen to support new ways or ideas a Resident might have in developing an interest in their chosen field within the wider community as part of their residency.

Applications are usually invited May/June and details will be posted on this website.
