Galway City Council Local Community Festivals Grant Awards Scheme 2009
Galway City Council has just announced its fourth annual Local Community Festivals Grant Awards Scheme. Local organisations planning an event in local areas in the city in the coming months may be eligible for a grant under this scheme.
In previous years, small, local festivals around the city have received support to involve and engage local people to contribute to a sense of community in old and new estates and areas
In 2008, events and festivals in Mervue, Westside, Tirellan, Ballybane, Slí Búrca, Ard Alainn and Ballinfoile received funding. A total fund of €10,000 is available again this year and interested local groups are invited to apply.
Grants will not be awarded for occasional or “once-off” events such as musical performances or sports days and this scheme is quite specifically designed to support small-scale local events organised by local people in 2009.
The application form is available from Galway City Council or downloadable below and has been designed to be as simple as possible and includes the criteria that will be used for assessing eligibility. Completed application forms should be returned by Friday, 22nd May to the Community & Enterprise Department of Galway City Council and decisions on grant-aid will be made in early June.
