Galway City Atlas 2008/2009

The Atlas is an initiative carried out by the Social Inclusion Unit as a priority action on behalf of the Galway City Development Board.
The information used within the Atlas is taken from data collated on Galway City from the 2006 Census.

This information is linked to local information where available and used to provide a profile of Galway City at a specific point in time.
This profile is presented under a number of topics such as demography, housing, employment, education, culture and issues relating to social inclusion. These topics are illustrated in the format of colour maps, statistical tables and narratives, which summarize the major changes in the data since it was last analysed.

Each map illustrates clearly what is happening in each of the city’s twenty-two electoral divisions; making for interesting reading as clear contrasts emerge between city centre areas and the outlying suburbs over time. This also enables communities, school children and local area groups to access key statistical data for their respective areas.

The atlas aims to provide a statistical data to decision-makers and thus assist them in making informed decisions regarding service provision in the city.
