Mayor's Awards

The Mayor’s awards, which are held on an annual basis, acknowledges outstanding people and organisations who, through their commitment to participating in unpaid community and voluntary activities , have made a significant impact on the quality of their communities in Galway City.

In December each year nominations are invited from people resident in Galway city for individuals or organisations who are involved in voluntary activity in one of the following categories:

The judging panel review the nominations and make their decisions based on the nominations as submitted. The awards are presented at a ceremony which is held at the end of January each year. Each winners receives a Galway Crystal trophy and a cheque for €650

Cllr. Nial O'Brolcháin, Mayor of Galway City, launched the fourth annual Mayor's Awards celebrating voluntary activity in community life in Galway city on Monday 23rd October 2006 in City Hall.
