The number of cars abandoned on roadsides and public open spaces with Galway City has risen dramatically in the past three years.
Please note the City Council can only take vehicles from public property and will not be able to enter private property only in exceptional circumstances.
You may report an abandoned vehicle to the city council and the City Council will aim to have vehicles removed within 48 hours where possible.
If a burnt out car is causing a road obstruction or is potentially dangerous outside normal working hours then you should contact the Gardai.

The community warden will arrange for vehicles to be towed away.

The City Council will arrange to have the vehicle removed to the Pound in the Liosbaun Industrial Estate.
The registered owner is identified and sent a letter advising that the vehicle will be scraped in 14 days.
A notice will be placed in local paper 7 days before scrapage. In the case of Foreign Registered cars then only the notice is placed in the local paper.
