Framework Plan 1: Lands at Ballyburke, Mincloon & Keeraun

The Development Plan & Policy Section have recently completed Framework Plan 1: Lands at Ballyburke, Mincloon & Keeraun, in conjunction with consultants McCrossan, O’Rourke & Manning.

The plan relates to approximately 37.5 hectares of primarily residential zoned lands, on the northwestern fringe of Galway City. The objective of this Framework Plan is to help achieve the integrated development of these lands and to create neighbourhoods with a sense of identity that encourage sustainable living and movement patterns.
These neighbourhoods will be attractive places to live in, provide a network of high quality open spaces, well designed vehicular, pedestrian and cycle routes, along with a mix of house types and a range of local services and community facilities.
The plan is a result of extensive survey and analysis and reflects best practice urban design principles.

The Framework Plan details the policies and standards, which are set out in the City Development Plan 2005-2011. The framework plan is a flexible document and the layout plans are indicative as it is intended to be a guidance tool for both the Planning Authority and developers.

A hard copy of the plan is available for purchase in the Planning Office of Galway City Council.
