Wheelie Bins

Galway City Council operates a 3-bin system of waste collection for householders.

• GREEN bin is for dry recyclables. What goes in my GREEN bin?
• BROWN bin is for food and garden waste. What goes in my BROWN bin?
• GREY bin for any other waste. What goes in my GREY bin?

If you:

• Have just moved into your house and want to order bins
• Have just moved into your house and want to transfer your bins
• Have a damaged bin
• Have lost a bin

then you should contact the Environment Section by phoning 091 536595

Householders should note that there maybe a charge of  €25 for bin replacement.

To Collectors of Waste

From 30th November 2001, it is an offence to collect waste if you do not have a valid waste collection permit.

To Holders of Waste

From 30th November 2001, it is an offence to give your waste to a waste collector who does not have a valid waste collection permit.

Waste includes old furniture, mixed household waste, rubble, scrap metal, recyclables etc.
