  • What is a Non-motorised Passenger Transporter?

    A non-motorised transporter is a mode of transport which does not contain either a fuel engine or electric engine such as a rickshaw or horse drawn carriage otherwise know as a hackney carriage.

    A Licence is required to operate a non-motorised passenger vehicle within the area and its boundaries controlled by Galway City Council in accordance with the Non-Motorised Passenger Transporter Bye-Laws 2013

    The completed application form should be returned to the Transportation & Infrastructure Section, at the above address, by post, fax or in person to the public counter (9:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday).

    The cost of license is €100.

    Payment of the fee may be made by cash, cheque or credit card at the cash office in City Hall, College Road, Galway.

  • Can I appeal a refusal to grant a licence for a Non-Motorised Passenger Transporter?

    An applicant may appeal a decision of the Council to refuse an application by

    writing to the Director of Services, Transportation & Infrastructure, Galway City Council, City Hall, College Road, Galway, within one month of the date of the refusal of the application.
