National Water Resources Plan (Irish Water) on public display

The NWRP is Irish Water’s plan to identify how they will provide a safe, sustainable, secure and reliable water supply to customers for now and into the future. The third draft plan (North West region) is on display until 21st February 2023 in the planning office.

A water main has burst at the playing pitches on Seamus Quirke Road this morning (Thursday 28.07.2022). Water has been redirected where possible, with repairs on-going throughout the day.

Repairs to a major burst water main are underway on Siobhan McKenna Road in Galway City.

Boil Water Notice lifted for Ard na Mara customers

Irish Water working in partnership with Galway City Council would like to inform customers in Ard na Mara, Salthill supplied by the Galway City Public Water Supply that the Boil Water Notice issued on the supply on 17 June has been lifted with immediate effect.  

First Fix Free scheme extended to 600,000 additional customers

An additional 600,000 customers can now benefit from Irish Water’s free leak repair service following approval by the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) to extend the First Fix scheme. Unmetered domestic customers can now avail of the scheme.

Irish Water has extended the statutory consultation period of the country’s first National Water Resources draft Framework Plan (NWRP) and associated SEA Environmental Report and Natura Impact Statement (NI). Irish Water is now inviting feedback on the Plan and associated environmental documents which was published for statutory consultation on the Tuesday 8 December, until Monday 1 March 2021.

Irish Water to complete new section of mains replacement in Mervue

Irish Water, working in partnership with Galway City Council, is decommissioning 1.5 kilometres of old and damaged water mains and replacing a further 1.1 kilometres of pipes in the Mervue area that were prone to frequent bursts and leakage and which caused water supply disruptions for customers in the area. The mains are being replaced with new high density polyethylene (plastic) pipes.
