  • What are Local Community Festival Grants?

    Galway City Council supports Community Festivals in local areas to encourage participation in community life.

    The Council supports festivals which demonstrate the involvement of their local community and which are organised and run by local residents.

    The application closing date may vary year to year. Applications are generally sought in May with decisions on successful applications confirmed in early June.

    Grants will not be awarded for occasional or once-off events such as musical performances, national day celebrations or sport days.

  • How do I apply?

    Suitable applicants are asked to complete an online application form.

    A public notice will be placed in the local paper inviting applications for the Local Community Festival Grants. Application forms will be available online, link for same will be advertised.

    Please ensure that you complete the online application form by the closing date as applications received after this date cannot be considered.

    In general, evidence of Public Liability Insurance is required and also budget details for the event.

  • Do I need to do anything after the event?

    A short written report on the event should be forwarded to the Community and Culture Department for their records. This report should contain a summary of the activities that took place and also an indication of the number people who attended.
