Galway City Development Plan 2023-2029
Galway City Council commences the review of the current Galway City Development Plan 2017-2023 on 7th January 2021 and preparation of a new City Development Plan for the period 2023 to 2029.
There are various stages involved in the preparation of a development plan which is a two year process. This current stage is Stage 1 ‘Pre-Draft’ and is the first phase of public consultation and will run for an 8 week period from Thursday 7th January 2021 to Friday 5th March 2021 (inclusive).
The purpose of the Development Plan web page is to help keep you informed and assist you in engaging with the process.
Our City, Our Future – Have your say!
An Issues Paper has been prepared which highlights key areas that the development plan covers and which are important to the future development of Galway City. (View Issues Paper at end of article)
We welcome your views on any of the issues and questions raised in the Issues Paper, or on any other issues that you may consider relevant to be included to the Galway City Development Plan 2023-2029.
We would like to hear from as many individuals, community groups, and stakeholders as possible.
The focus at this stage of the process is on strategic issues only. Proposals or requests for zoning of particular lands cannot be considered. There will be an opportunity to make submissions later in the process, including submissions in relation to zoning.

Submissions/observations are invited from all and can be made by the following means:
Please make your submission/observation in one form only i.e. online, by email or hard copy by post. Submissions should be titled “Development Plan Review”.
The closing date for receipt of submissions is FRIDAY 5TH MARCH 2021.
