Eglinton Canal Active Travel Scheme

Resurfacing Works at Fr. Griffin Road - Monday the 10th and Tuesday 11th of July

The public are advised that resurfacing works are due to commence on the R336 Fr. Griffin Road, at the junction of Claddagh Quay.

To facilitate these works, Jons Civils Ltd. will implement temporary traffic management and a diversion route for the area between 7pm and 6am (Night Works) from Monday the 10th and Tuesday 11th of July. The Temporary Traffic Management will include:

·         Closure of Claddagh Quay/Fr. Griffin Road Junction as per attached TTM drawing 1348-TTM-009.

·         Diversion route will be in place via Priory Road and Fairhill Road Lower.

·         Temporary traffic management controls will be in place for the works as per attached TTM drawings 1348-TTM-009 and 1348-TTM-012 .

Resurfacing Works at Dominick Street - Wednesday the 12th of July to Friday 14th of July inclusive

The public are advised that resurfacing works are due to commence on the L-5102 Dominick Street Lower, at the junction of Ravens Terrace.

To facilitate these works, Jons Civils Ltd. will implement temporary traffic management and a diversion route for the area between 7pm and 6am (Night Works) from Wednesday the 12th of July to Friday 14th of July inclusive. The Temporary Traffic Management will include:

·         Closure of Dominic Street lower/Upper Junction as per attached TTM drawing 1348-TTM-013.

·         South bound diversion route will be in place via Mill Street, New Road, St. Helens Street, St Marys Road, The Crescent, Fr. Griffin Avenue and Fr. Griffin Road.

·         North bound diversion route will be in place via Claddagh Quay, Priory Road, Fairhill Road Lower, Fr Griffin Rd, Fr. Griffin Avenue, St Marys Road, St. Helens St, New Road and Mill Street.

·         Temporary traffic management controls will be in place as per TTM drawing 1348-TTM-013.

Short Duration Road Closure on Dominic Street

The public are advised that a short duration road closure will be in place on Dominic Street Upper at the junction with Dominic Street Lower between 10am and 12pm, Monday 26th June to Wednesday 28th June inclusive.

To facilitate these works, Jons Civil Engineering Ltd. will implement temporary traffic management and a diversion route as per attached traffic management drawing 1348-TTM-014

The Temporary Traffic Management will include:

•                     Temporary closure of the Dominic Street Upper junction with Dominic Street Lower.

•                     Northbound Diversion route will be in place via Dominic Street Lower, Mill Street, New Road and Henry Street.

•                     Southbound Diversion route will be via William Street, Sea Road, Father Griffin Avenue and Fr Griffin Road.

Temporary traffic management controls will be in place for the works as per attached TTM drawings 1348-TTM-014

Eglinton Canal Active Travel Scheme

Eglinton Canal Active Travel Scheme Commencement Notice - Upgrading of walk ways and road routes in Galway’s Westend

Galway’s Westend will be undergoing a body of upgrading works of road routes, crossing points and pathways beginning on Monday 15 May. The works which will see the upgrading of the canal towpath, junctions and carriageways from Claddagh Road connection to Ravens Terrace and the inclusion of a raised platform between Ravens Terrace at Monahan’s Centra to Monroes and onto The Lock keepers at the beginning of the canal walkway on Dominick Street.  Resurfacing works will also take place along the entire canal towpath, to the junction on University Road (Wards Shop).

These works will facilitate Active Travel along the Eglinton Canal, from the junction on Father Griffin Road to the junction with University Road, including resurfacing the route and installation of crossing points with zebra crossings, buildouts and raised platforms at appropriate intervals.

The project will be split into 3 main sections beginning with:

·         Upper Dominick Street to Claddagh Quay

·         University Road (Wards Corner) to Presentation Road

·         Presentation Road to Dominick Street

Please refer to accompanying Public Engagement Drawing which outlines the extent works to be undertaken for the Eglinton Canal Active Trave Scheme.

Localised access will be maintained at all times, and diversion signage will be in place in advance of the works.
