Galway City Council through the Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) invites applications for funding from interested Community Centres and Community Buildings within the Galway City administrative area under the Community Enhancement Programme (CEP) for 2020 for Community Centres and Community Buildings.
Under the programme capital grants will be provided towards the maintenance, improvement and upkeep of community centres and community buildings. Similar expenditure on other community facilities will also be allowed. Applications should relate to one or more key priority areas identified in the Galway City Local Economic & Community Plan 2015 – 2021 which can be viewed on line at https://www.galwaycity.ie/uploads/downloads/publications/communityculture/Galway%20City%20LECP.pdf
The programme can fund or partially fund larger scale projects to address disadvantage. Some funding is ring-fenced to provide small capital grants of €1,000 or less. This is aimed at assisting grassroots community projects to get off the ground.
The funding covers capital projects only and should demonstrate added value. The following provides a non-exhaustive list of capital projects that could receive funding under the programme:
Upgrade of community building
Development of community facility
Energy efficiency upgrade
Adaptations or equipment needed as a result of COVID-19
Target groups - This funding is targeted at measures that stimulate local economies, while enhancing community facilities for individuals and communities that are impacted by disadvantage as identified in the Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP).
Applications can be completed online and guidelines are available to view at https://www.galwaycity.ie/cep2020
The closing date for applications under the Community Enhancement Programme 2020 fund for Community Centres and Community Buildings is Friday, 18th September, 2020 at 4.00pm.
