Big Match in the Big Top

Big Match in the Big Top

Galway City Council is delighted to announce the screening of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final 2022, between Galway and Kerry, on Sunday the 24th of July, in the Heineken Big Top. After the great achievement of Padraic Joyce and his team to reach the All-Ireland Final, Galway City Council is very pleased to partner with the Galway International Arts Festival, to screen the match in the iconic venue in Fisheries Field.  Following in the footsteps of the Pixies, the Stunning, Jon Hopkins, the Academic, the Frames and the Flaming Lips, the Galway Footballers will hopefully deliver a great finale to this year’s festival. The event will be ticketed, but will be free of charge, with further information to be published on www.galwaycity.ie this week.

Speaking on the event, Mayor Clodagh Higgins said:

‘It is fitting to have this event in the iconic Heineken Big Top to celebrate the great achievement of the team, and I want to wish them every success in the final. We have already celebrated a great Minor Football Team All-Ireland victory this month, and hopefully the Ladies Camogie team will book their place in the All-Ireland Final when they play on the 23rd of July, and I wish them every success possible. My thanks to Galway City Council and Galway International Arts Festival for working with me to make this fitting tribute to our outstanding GAA players happen’.

John Crumlish, CEO of the Galway International Arts Festival said:

‘We are delighted to be working with Galway City Council to make this event happen. We have celebrated many great nights in the Heineken Big Top, but a victory for Galway in the All-Ireland final would go down in history as one of the best ever. We are looking forward to what should be an amazing occasion in the city’.

Tickets are available now on the Galway International Arts Festival website, visit www.giaf.ie
