Book of Condolences online in Memory of Patricia Burke Brogan

An online Book of Condolences in memory of Patricia Burke Brogan, Freewoman of the City of Galway, has been opened on the Galway City Council website on 9th September 2022.

Mayor of the City of Galway, Cllr Clodagh Higgins, opened the online Book, which will be available to the public for the entry of messages of sympathy.

Mayor of the City of Galway, Cllr Clodagh Higgins shared a message of condolence, saying, “Rest in Peace, Patricia Burke Brogan – you were an inspiration as a playwright, poet, activist, humanitarian, and novelist, most especially for your work highlighting the immense suffering of the women in the Magdelene Laundries. The People of Ireland owe you a gratitude and thank you for all you have done to better Irish society. My deepest sympathies to your family and loved ones - my thoughts are with you all on the loss of a great women”.

The Book will remain open until 7th October 2022.
