In accordance with Part X1 of the Planning and Development Acts 2000 (as amended) and Part 8, Article 81 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended) notice is hereby given by Galway City Council of a proposed homeless day centre with temporary & emergency homeless accommodation at Seamus Quirke Road, Galway.


The development will consist of:

(a) demolition of the existing building and ancillary site structures and boundary walls, (b) construction of new part 3-storey / part 2-storey development to include (i) reinstatement of existing day care facilities (ii) 08 No. one bed units which have the potential to be changed to 08 No. 3 person dormitories as an emergency cold weather response, (iii) 02 No. two bed units and (iv) night staff quarters (c) landscaped courtyard garden with outdoor training area, (d) new site boundary treatment and (e) all other associated site development and ancillary works, including temporary construction signage


Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy for a period of 4 weeks from Thursday, 08th December 2022 up to and including Friday 13th January 2023 during public hours at the Planning Office, Galway City Council, City Hall, College Road, Galway, BY APPOINTMENT ONLY from 9:00am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays.

There is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment so therefore the preliminary assessment has concluded that an Environmental Impact Assessment Report is not required. Any person may, within 4 weeks from the date of the notice, apply to An Bord Pleanála for a screening determination as to whether the development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment.
