€23,500 Available to Support Community and Residents Groups
Galway City Council invites Residents Associations, community groups and allotment schemes to apply for the Local Amenity Grant Scheme 2024. The scheme covers general improvement works and environmental initiatives, such as the purchase of small garden equipment, litter pickers, estate name stones, graffiti removal, repair works, community workshops, and litter clean-ups. Mayor of the City of Galway Cllr. Eddie Hoare commented that, “The Local Amenity Grants scheme has proven a success over the past number of years and reflects the pride people have in their local areas and the care they have for the wider environment”.
Fergal Cushen, Environmental Awareness Officer with Galway City Council commented, “In total, the funding for the Local Amenity Grants Scheme for 2024 is €23,500 - it is a great resource for community groups to avail of. Every local endeavour which benefits the community contributes to a healthy and positive environment for the whole city”.
