Public Notice in Accordance with the Road Traffic Act, 1994 (Section 38) as amended by the Public Transport Regulations Act 2009 (Section 46) Measures to Enhance Public Bus Services – Traffic Calming Measures.


Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act, 1994 as amended by the Public Transport Regulation Act 2009 (Section 46), Galway City Council proposes to provide the following measures on Parkmore Road (L-5147), from the junction with the R339 Monivea Road to the Parkmore Road Roundabout.

The proposed measures include:

  • Provision of Bus Lane southbound on Parkmore Road (L-5147) from the Parkmore Road Roundabout to a point 180m north of the Monivea Road Junction
  • and associated works including the provision of three additional traffic light controlled pedestrian crossings on Parkmore Road, raised junction treatments along Parkmore Road and the provision of ancillary works including kerb realignment, pavement works, landscaping, public lighting, footway renewals, traffic signs and road markings.

 

Drawings of the proposed upgrade are available for public inspection from 2nd June 2022 to 7th July 2022 (each day excluding weekends and public holidays) from 9.00 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Galway City Council, College Road, Galway.

Drawings are also available for inspection online (see links below).

Observations and submissions in respect of the proposed upgrade should be made through an online form (see www.galwaycity.ie/Parkmore) or in writing and addressed to Mr. Patrick Greene, Director of Services, Transport, Climate Action & Environment, Recreation & Amenity and Water Services, Galway City Council, City Hall, College Road, Galway or emailed to activetravel@galwaycity.ie before 4.00 p.m. on the 7th of July 2022.
