Schools & Sports Clubs Cycle Parking - Expression of Interest 2022

Galway City Council is making cycle and scooter parking available to schools and sports clubs, in support of Bike Week and European Mobility Week 2022.

Schools and sports clubs are invited to fill in the online expression of interest, and to indicate the level of cycle/ scooter parking requested.

All cycle stands are ‘Sheffield’ stands/ toast rack in stainless steel and are uncovered, see image.

Please note

  • Galway City Council will deliver cycle/ scooter stands to the school/club, but will not install on private grounds.
  • Schools/ clubs will need to bolt down/ install the stands appropriately.
  • Applicants must have an appropriate surface/location for installation prior to delivery
  • Cycle parking/ scooter stands must be installed inside the school/ sports club boundary, and not on the public road.
  • Existing parking bays can be appropriate locations.
  • The maintenance, liability and ownership of the stand will lie with the school/ sports club, once delivered by Galway City Council.
  • It is the responsibility of the school/ sports club to ensure that any permissions, including landowner permissions, are in place prior to delivery/ installation.
  • Delivery of stands will be scheduled with individual schools/ sports clubs over 2022, and will be subject to the availability of cycle/ scooter parking stock.
  • This scheme is open to schools/ sports clubs located in the Galway City Council administrative area only.
