Galway City Council is inviting applications for funding from suitably qualified and experienced organisations in Galway city to develop and deliver new collaborative programmes/projects/ initiatives that will deliver outcomes for one of the following objectives:
Support the development of the social and circular economy;
Support increased enterprise development, innovation and job growth in the Creative Technology (CreaTech) sector;
Maximise the potential of the Connected Hubs initiative to assist Placemaking and Talent Retention
In January 2024, Galway City Council adopted the Galway City Local Economic and Community Framework Plan 2024-2029 – and Galway City Local Economic and Community Implementation Plan 2024-2025. The primary aim of the LECP is to set out, for a six-year period, the objectives and actions needed to promote and support the economic development and the local and community development of Galway City both by Galway City Council directly, and in partnership with other economic and community development stakeholders.
Galway City Council recognises the opportunities in adopting a collaborative and targeted approach to the development of ‘An Innovative City.’ This funding call will focus on the above key objectives that offer significant potential for innovation, growth and can play a key role in the achievement of the objectives of the Galway City Local Economic and Community Framework Plan 2024-2029.
An Innovative City is funded by Galway City Council. For 2024, the funding available is €40,000 and it is envisioned that approximately 3 or 4 projects will be funded.
How to Apply
Interested applicants are requested to submit in writing (by email) an outline proposal for their new collaborative programme, project, initiative in this regard (max 300 words).
Please include information on the activities and expected local impacts of the project, partners to be involved, the added value of this project, in addition to an outline budget, including your request for funding. This proposal must be received via email to Caitriona.Morgan@galwaycity.ie on or before 5pm on Thursday 30th May 2024 with ‘An Innovative City’ included in the subject line.
After this, suitable proposals will be invited to proceed to submit a full application.
The overall application deadline is Friday 7th June 2024.
