It is proposed the works undertaken will include measures to improve pedestrian safety and convenience through the provision of bus stops, crossing points, and line marking.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Galway City Council in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 9 of the Road Traffic Act, 2004 (No. 44 of 2004), as amended, proposes to make Bye Laws in accordance with Phase 2 of the National Speed Limit Review, namely the Galway City Council Special Speed Limit Bye Laws 2026. The purpose of these Bye Laws is to implement special speed limits on public roads within the administrative area of Galway City Council.

Galway City Council welcomes the reactivation of the Galway Metropolitan Area Transportation Strategy (GMATS) by the National Transport Authority (NTA). This important Strategy will identify the transport needs for Galway and inform the future development of Galway, enabling it to continue to serve as the economic and cultural centre of the West of Ireland.
