
Galway City Council has been contacted by Uisce Eireann and the EPA regarding a storm overflow incident that occurred at Mutton Island Wastewater Treatment Plant on 17 July 2025 during heavy rainfall.
After consulting with the HSE and the EPA, Galway City Council has decided as a precautionary measure and in line with Regulation 15 of the Bathing Water Quality Regulations (S.I. No. 79 of 2008) “Do Not Swim” notices will be erected at Ballyloughane, Grattan Beach and Salthill/Blackrock.
Bathing water samples will be taken today 18 July 2025 and we expect these results Monday 21 July 2025
