NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Galway City Council proposes to make an order closing:
Queen Street: From Merchants Road to Forthill Street
Period of Closure: From 8pm to 5am, Monday 10th November 2025 to Friday 14th November 2025.
Reason: To facilitate ESB ducting works - connection to new Student Accommodation Building
Diversion Routes: Diversion for traffic towards Queen Street will be outside Ceannt Rail Station via Eyre Square East, Prospect Hill, Bóthar Uí Eithir, Fairgreen Road, Lough Atalia Road, Bóthar na Long, Dock Road, New Dock Street & Merchants Road. Right turn from Merchants Road to Queen Street will be closed with diversion via Forthill Street.
Advance diversion signage will be in place prior to work commencing.
Documents can be inspected at Reception, Galway City Council, City Hall, College Road, Galway, H91 X4K8, during office hours, from 9.00am to 4.00pm, Monday to Friday. Objections to the proposed temporary closure may be submitted in writing to Mr Patrick Greene, Director of Services, Galway City Council, at above address, or by email to: roads@galwaycity.ie not later than 12.00pm Wednesday 22nd October 2025.
