Galway City Mayor Welcomes Notre Dame MBA Students in ‘Grow Irish’ Immersive Consulting Experience

MBA Group with Mayor and CE in Chamber

Mayor of the City of Galway, Cllr Mike Cubbard, welcomed Notre Dame MBA Teams participating in the ‘Grow Irish’ immersive week-long consulting experience to City Hall, on Tuesday 3 March 2026.

The MBA students are collaborating with leading Galway companies such as Aztec Medical, Galway Chamber and Cope Galway as part of the initiative.

Mayor of the City of Galway, Cllr Mike Cubbard said, “I’m delighted to welcome the Notre Dame MBA students to Galway City, and to City Hall. These shared learning opportunities spark new ideas, and bring fresh momentum to our local businesses - and are hugely valuable to all involved”.

This initiative grew from long standing connections between Kylemore Abbey and the University of Notre Dame, and from an introduction to our Sister Cities Committee in Chicago. These relationships led to Galway City Council delegations visiting the city of South Bend and Notre Dame University in 2023 and 2024, where high‑level meetings were held with university leadership and our partners, including Galway Chamber.

Mayor Cubbard continued, “This cooperation reflects the purpose of the Galway City Council Sister Cities programme: to build meaningful links across cultural, educational, social, scientific, and economic spheres. We look forward to strengthening the relationship between Notre Dame and Galway through this activity and into the future.”

Consulate General of Ireland for Chicago, Brian Cahalane, attended the event, which was also attended by Galway Chamber CEO, Karen Ronan, ATU President, Dr Orla Flynn and Elected Members of Galway City Council.
