NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Galway City Council proposes to make an order closing:
Galway City (St Patrick’s Day Parade): From University Road, Canal Road Upper, Gaol Road, Salmon Weir Bridge, St. Vincent’s Avenue, Francis Street, Eglinton Street, Woodquay, Headford Road, Dyke Road up to Black Box car park entrance, Saint Brendan’s Avenue, Eyre Street, Bothar Irwin, Bothar na mBan , Williamsgate Street, Eyre Square North, Eyre Square East, Merchants Road onto Eyre Square South, Newtownsmith, Mary Street, O’Brien’s Bridge, Lombard Street, Bowling Green, Market Street, Abbeygate Street.
Period of Closure: From 11.00AM to 2.00PM on Tuesday 17th March 2026.
Reason: St Patrick’s Day Parade.
Localised access and access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained.
Advance signage will be in place prior to the event.
Documents can be inspected at Reception, Galway City Council, City Hall, College Road, Galway, H91 X4K8, during office hours, from 9.00am to 4.00pm, Monday to Friday. Objections to the proposed temporary closure may be submitted in writing to Mr Patrick Greene, Director of Services, Galway City Council, at above address, or by email to: roads@galwaycity.ie not later than 12.00pm on Thursday 5th March 2026.
