Galway City Council wishes to advise that there will be a period of high astronomical spring tides in the coming days.

The Arts Services of Clare County Council, Galway City Council and Mayo County Council are delighted to announce the launch of the Levelling Access Artists Practice Bursary.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Galway City Council has made an order closing:

Abbeygate Street Upper: From the junction at Bowling Green to the junction of Abbeygate Street Upper (opposite Sally Longs).

Period of Closure: From 8.00am to 2.00pm Tuesday 22nd October 2024.

Reason: To facilitate removal of scaffolding from external facade of Electric Nightclub and Abbeygate House.

Diversion Routes: Temporary diversion route will be in place via Bowling Green.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Galway City Council proposes to make an order closing:

Eyre Square North (L-51241): From the junction of Eyre Street to the junction of Williamsgate Street.

Period of Closure: From Sunday 3rd November 2024 to Wednesday 8th January 2025.

Reason: Galway Christmas Market 2024.

In pursuance of the provisions of section 20 of the FINANCE (LOCAL PROPERTY TAX) ACT 2012 (as amended), I the undersigned, hereby notify the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage of the passing, of a resolution at a meeting of the above mentioned local authority on 14th October 2024 to the effect that the basic rate of local property tax should stand varied upwards by 15 per cent for the years 2025 to 2029 in respect of relevant residential properties situated in the local authority’s administrative area.

Reason: To facilitate a Motorsports Showcase.

Galway City Council is delighted to announce this year’s allocation of funding under the Sports Club Grants Scheme. In all, €140,000 was allocated to 50 different clubs with 26 clubs receiving the maximum grant amount of €3,500.

The Elected Members of Galway City Council have agreed a 15% adjustment in the Local Property Tax (LPT), which the Local Authority says will fund increased investment of €7 million in public services over the next five years.
