Galway City Council today announced the appointment of three new Urban and Community Development Officers to give targeted support to community and voluntary groups in the City. These pioneering roles will support the growth and empowerment of local communities, working closely with residents, community groups and other stakeholders to implement community development initiatives and enhance community cohesion.

The units were installed last week in the Surrounded by Stone gallery on the ground floor. Visitors are invited to drop in and search for up to four Irish family surnames for FREE and discover the precise origin and location of any associated placenames and castles.
