Galway City Council are conducting a renewed online survey to gain deeper insights into the Affordable Housing demand in Galway City.

From Wednesday 18 February at 7:00 a.m. until Friday 20 February at. 5:00 pm, St. James’ Road will be closed between Ballybane Road to the Bayview Rise Junction. 

Galway City Council is inviting community groups to apply for 2026 Social Inclusion Grants (€300–€2,000) to support non‑capital projects that promote equality, participation, and inclusion across Galway City.

Galway City Council is exploring new locations for allotments and community gardens across the city – and we’d love your input. Share feedback by Monday 9 March 2026.

Mayor of the City of Galway, Cllr Mike Cubbard welcomed a European delegation to Galway City last week (3-4 February 2026) as part of NITIES — Night Time Economy Strategies: Interregional approach - an EU funded Interreg Europe project supporting cities to develop sustainable, inclusive and well managed night time economies. Galway City is one of nine Night-Time Economy pilot locations in Ireland, with a focus on building on and maintaining Galway City’s vibrant, welcoming, and inclusive night-time experience for residents, workers, and visitors. 

Galway City Council is delighted to announce that applications for the 2026 Annual Mayor’s Awards will open on Monday, 16 February 2026. This year’s ceremony will take place on Wednesday 29 April, celebrating another exceptional year of volunteering across the city. The awards honour the outstanding contributions of individuals, community organisations, and voluntary groups who make a remarkable impact in Galway City.
