What are Local Community Festival Grants?
Galway City Council supports Community Festivals in local areas to encourage participation in community life.
This grant scheme provides small scale funding to support festivals or events organised and run by local Community groups & residents groups to reconnect the local community & to encourage, support and celebrate participation in communities across Galway City.
Grants will range from €300 - €2,000.
Successful applicants will be notified in Mid-May after approval at the May Galway City Council meeting. Events and festivals must take place within the year 2026 and no later than 30 November 2026.

Event proposal, including details on the events goals, target audience, location, schedule, and expected impact.

Detailed budget with supporting quotations

Proof of liability insurance and risk management plan

Important Dates
- Online Applications Open: Monday 16th February 2026, 9am
- Online Application Deadline: Monday 9th March 2026, 12pm
- Notification of Outcome: Mid‑May 2026
- Events Completed By: 30th November 2026
