16/07/2025 - Results of samples taken at Ballyloughane Beach on Monday 14th July 2025, have shown high levels of Intestinal Enterococci which represents a classification of “poor”. Given this, GCC are issuing a Prohibition Notice for Ballyloughane Beach.
Resamples were taken today (Wednesday 16th July 2025) and we expect these results (Friday 18th July 2025). The beach is susceptible to Short Term Pollution events and is known to be affected by heavy rainfall. Bathers are asked to observe precautions displayed on posters.
