Galway City Council is inviting applications for Grants for Arts Organisations 2026. The funding relates to assistance to arts organisations, programmes and projects during the year 2026.
In accordance with the Arts Act 2003, the funding relates to arts activity which has the purpose of:

To stimulate public interest in the arts,
-
To promote knowledge, understanding and practice of the arts, or
-
To improve the quality of the arts.
Arts Grants for Organisations are classified into two strands:
1) Professional Strand for Arts Grants
2) Community, Voluntary & Amateur Strand for Arts Grants
The Grant is categorised into two distinct strands: one for Professional Organisations and one for Community, Voluntary and Amateur Organisations. This approach ensures that assessment and funding are tailored to the specific needs of professional and community organisations involved in the arts.
Galway City Council is committed to maintaining a strong foundation for a vibrant, diverse and sustainable arts programme in Galway City. The Council values the vibrant programmes and activities that are carried out across the city, including the provision of excellent work in all areas of the arts, the promotion of opportunities to practice and enjoy the arts, the promotion of Irish language arts, the development of relationships with new audiences as well as established audiences, equality, diversity and inclusion in participation and practice of the arts, and more.
The closing date for applications from organisations is 12 January 2026.
