The Galway Climate Festival ‘’Giob Geab’’ event will take place on Thursday 25 June between 7 – 10 pm, in the Festival Tent, Fr. Burke Park, Galway City. Returning host Shani Williams promises to bring her signature wit and warmth, accompanied with her unique cúpla focal to this innovative night of community storytelling.

All interested parties including Community groups, Social Enterprises, Biodiversity groups, and Residents Associations are invited to present their sustainability stories, projects, or innovative ideas to a receptive audience.

‘Giob Geab’ is an Irish interpretation of the Japanese rapid fire presentation format known as ‘Pecha Kucha’ first launched by GCC in March 2025. The format is simple: each group presents 5 slides for 5 minutes sharp. It is designed to make the evening as engaging and fun as possible, highlighting the amazing environmental, biodiversity and climate actions taking place in Galway.

Speaking about this year’s event, Tiarnan McCusker, Community Climate Action Officer said, “This is the 3rd Giob Geab and this year we are delighted to be bringing Galway County Council on board. There is a wealth of environmental excellence throughout the City, County and beyond, and we would love to hear from you.’’

Galway City Council staff and Galway County Council staff will also present at this event. The night will provide a great opportunity for networking and learning in an informal and relaxed environment.

If you would like to present, please email Climate@GalwayCity.ie and or ClimateAction@GalwayCoCo.ie by COB Friday 5 June - Please highlight your group’s name and project.

The event is organised in partnership with Galway County Council, Galway Tidy Towns, Galway City Community Network, Galway City Partnership and Galway Volunteer Centre.
