Galway City Local Community Safety Partnership Launches Public Consultation Programme for New Community Safety Plan
The Galway City Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP) is inviting residents, community groups, businesses, and organisations across the city to take part in a series of public consultation events aimed at shaping a new Community Safety Plan for Galway City. The consultations will provide an opportunity for people to share their experiences, concerns, and ideas on issues affecting community safety, wellbeing, inclusion, public spaces, local services, and future priorities for the city.
The LCSP brings together representatives from local communities, statutory agencies, public services, and elected members to work collaboratively on improving safety and quality of life across Galway City. A key part of developing the new Community Safety Plan is listening directly to the people who live, work, study, and spend time in the city.
The consultation process will help identify the issues that matter most to communities and inform practical actions that can make Galway a safer, more connected, and more inclusive place for everyone.

Speaking ahead of the consultations, Leonard Cleary, Chief Executive of Galway City Council, said:

These consultations provide an important opportunity for individuals and communities to help shape the priorities and actions that will inform Galway City's first Community Safety Plan. Whether your concerns relate to neighbourhood safety, community wellbeing, youth services, public spaces, or social inclusion, your views matter. We want as many voices as possible to contribute to this important conversation."
Community safety extends beyond crime prevention and policing. It includes issues such as health and wellbeing, social inclusion, community cohesion, the quality of public spaces, and ensuring that all members of society feel safe and supported. The Community Safety Plan will set out a shared vision and practical actions to address local priorities identified through consultation and partnership working.
