NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Galway City Council in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 9 of the Road Traffic Act, 2004 (No. 44 of 2004), as amended, proposes to make Bye‑Laws in accordance with Phase 2 of the National Speed Limit Review, namely the Galway City Council Special Speed Limit Bye‑Laws 2026. The purpose of these Bye‑Laws is to implement special speed limits on public roads within the administrative area of Galway City Council.
The public consultation period will run from Friday, 3 July 2026 to Tuesday, 4 August 2026 (inclusive). During this period, the draft Bye‑Laws will be available to view and download at https://consult.galwaycity.ie/browse. For those without web access, a copy of the draft Bye‑Laws will be available for inspection at the locations listed below, during normal opening hours:

Objections to the draft Bye‑Laws may be submitted from Friday, 3 July 2026 until 4p.m. on Tuesday, 4 August 2026 (inclusive), in any of the following ways:

Objections should be made in one medium only i.e. via the consultation portal or via hard copy by post. The closing date for receipt of objections is 04 August 2026 at 4pm.
