Public Notice in Accordance with the Road Traffic Act 1994 (Section 38(3)(b)) as amended

BUS CONNECTS WORKS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS IN GALWAY CITY

Under Section 38 (1) of the 1994 Road Traffic Act as amended, a Road Authority may, in the interest of the safety and convenience of road users, provide such traffic calming measures as it considers desirable in respect of public roads in their charge. This includes measures which enhance the provision of public bus services.

Proposals for the redesign of the bus network in Galway have been agreed as part of the Bus Network Redesign Galway Programme. The redesign was carried out by the National Transport Authority (NTA) in partnership with Galway City and County Councils to ensure full integration with local, regional and national policy. A public consultation exercise on the Network Redesign was held in 2023.

As part of providing for the new bus network for Galway, it is proposed there will be upgrade works to existing bus stops, relocation of existing bus stops, and construction of new bus stops. It is proposed the works undertaken will include measures to improve pedestrian safety and convenience through the provision of bus stops, crossing points, and line marking.
